Postby wgz » Mon Oct 05, 2009 6:27 am

When I downloaded iTunes 9 today, I tried to go to the store and its message was "iTunes requires Safari 4.0.3 or higher to be installed to use the Itunes store. I went to software download and no updates for safari would come up. So I went to this site and I downloaded Safari 4 and it said that I couldn't use it on my MacBook because its a not High enough version. Mine is a Mac 0sx 10.5.5. And the Apple people arent able to help

Try using Firefox instead of Safari.

It may be a glitch because of the new Snow Leopard that has come out. I have both an iMac and a macbook and I've updated both the OS, iTunes AND Safari. I would try completely uninstalling (assuming you remember your password and username) iTunes, restart your macbook and redownload it. Sometimes iTunes is a bit buggy especially as they have updated it twice since Snow Leopard came out. If that doesn't work, I'd take it to an Apple Store and let them mess with it (make sure to make an appointment if you do that!)

You need to update your OS to 10.5.7 in order to run Safari 4. This is stated in the system requirements for Safari: http://www.apple.com/safari/download/

The 10.5.7 update should be showing as a download option in Software Update. If it's not, you can download it here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL827

Edit: Using another browser won't solve the problem as iTunes uses the Webkit engine (installed as part of Safari) to display the online store.
