I have a Mac Pro and Final Cut Pro if that helps.

The easiest/cheapest way to do this, if you have a lot of old VHS tapes, is to buy a combo VHS recorder/ DVD recorder. You just drop your VHS tape into it, add a blank DVD and hit dub. I have a Sony one now, it works great. The DVDs will play in your Mac. If you need to do any serious editing you can edit the DVD and burn a new one.
