New macbook air: HD failure

Postby anniese2001 » Mon Jan 18, 2010 3:03 pm

Hi there,
my four months old macbook air just collapsed for no reason few days ago and after having this light grey idle window for two days I brought it to an apple store for checking it. It turned out it is HD failure (which is very disappointing considered the fame of robustness the Mac have) but the annoying thing is that at the apple centre they didn't want to help me doing the data recovery. I checked on some websites and the companies which do it are very expensive. Also it looks like you cannot start this particular mac in target disk mode to try the re-boot because it has no firewire.
Does anyone can help, I'm really desperate in recovering my data before bringing it in for repair.
Thanks a lot.
