is my laptop dying?

In trying to deal with some annoying issues affecting the display on my 2.16 Macbookpro 15inch, I ran the disk utility (verify disk).

I got this log message:

Verifying volume “My Mac”
Checking HFS Plus volume.
Checking Extents Overflow file.
Checking Catalog file.
Checking multi-linked files.
Checking Catalog hierarchy.
Checking Extended Attributes file.
Checking volume bitmap.
Checking volume information.
Volume Header needs minor repair
The volume My Mac needs to be repaired.

Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit

1 HFS volume checked
Volume needs repair

I also got a pop up window that said: First Aid failed. Disk utility stopped Verifying "My Mac" because the following error was encountered: The underlying task reported failure on exit.

The Repair Disk option is greyed out and unavailable. What am I to do???

(As reported earlier, the problem I am having with my display, that started this concern is that despite having display settings on teh same as I have had for years, (1440 x 900) the display appears to be too big for the screen and 1cm of either top or bottom, and left or right, is hidden, off screen. When I move the mouse it automatically drags the entire deskop, including the background and the menu bar).

Please Help Me!!!

I am really worried and I would really appreciate any advice.

Dave
