Can't copy files to a Freecom network drive

Postby eddleetham » Wed Jan 13, 2010 8:00 pm

I have an iMac running 10.6.2 and have managed to connect to a Freecom Network Dive 500GB via ethernet. It is formatted in FAT32. I realise that I can't use Time Machine unless I reformat the drive to Mac Extended Journalled, so have decided to leave it in FAT32 and simply copy backup files to it manually. I can see the drive in Finder and I can see files on the drive. However, if I try to copy a file from my Mac I get the error message "Can't complete the operation because some data in "file" can't be read or written (Error code -16). The copied file does appear on the network drive, but the file size is zero. Anonymous read/write is enabled.

Any idea why I can't copy files to the drive?
